The College of Liberal Arts invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, to begin Fall 2027. Appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. Any hiring at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor with indefinite tenure will be subject to a successful out-of-cycle tenure review process. Candidates should have a PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or closely associated field, with a research focus in crime, law, and deviance. Advanced ABDs will be considered, but completion of PhD is required by time of hire. Candidates should be prepared to teach five courses (in a quarter system, 2/2/1) in Sociology and Criminology, both in-person and online. Experience teaching and developing online classes is preferred. Preferred candidates will also contribute to graduate education, through teaching and advising graduate students in the School of Public Policy. Successful candidates will have an active research agenda and demonstrate potential for eventual promotion and tenure.
