About The Position

The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position will begin on September 1, 2027. For this position, we are seeking applicants with a research specialization at the intersection of public health and criminal justice OR in corrections. Successful candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in criminology and criminal justice, conduct and publish research in criminology and criminal justice, and perform service to the department, university, and discipline. Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in research, teaching, and service if possible. In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

• A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related social science field is required.
• ABDs will be considered if the expected completion date is before June 1, 2027.
• Must be legally able to accept work in the United States.

• Previous experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in criminology and criminal justice
• A publication record commensurate with their career stage
• Experience (or potential for) engaging in service to the department, university and discipline

Responsibilities

• Conducting research and publishing in academic outlets (e.g. university presses, scholarly journals)
