Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Science or a related discipline.
  • Four (4) years college teaching experience (96+ credits).
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching in Exercise Science and Health Science Programs.
  • National certification from ACSM, NASM or NSCA.
  • Two (2) + years of experience as a Program Coordinator.
  • Experience with curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation.
  • Experience supervising faculty or staff.
  • Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
  • Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
  • Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
  • Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline.
  • Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
  • Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
  • Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
  • Plan and execute program-related events.
  • Attend workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
  • Recruit, advise, and retain students in designated program areas.
  • Select appropriate part-time instructors.
  • Schedule program courses.
  • Hire and evaluate faculty.
  • Establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers.
  • Arrange and supervise student internships.
  • Assess, evaluate, and continuously improve the program.
  • Perform other duties as appropriately assigned to a Program Coordinator, in accordance with contract hours and the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Utilize release time, as specified in the collective bargaining agreement, to perform required administrative functions.
  • Attend and participate at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Service on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
