About The Position

The Department of Kinesiology at The University of Alabama is seeking to fill a full-time, renewable contract (non-tenure track) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Exercise Science. This position begins August 2027. Exercise Science is a significant and expanding concentration within the undergraduate Kinesiology major, experiencing substantial enrollment growth in recent years. The department is looking for a faculty member dedicated to high-quality undergraduate teaching, student engagement, and service that aligns with the missions of the Department of Kinesiology and the College of Education. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching 8 undergraduate courses annually in exercise science and related fields, contributing to service activities, and actively participating in the department's academic life.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in exercise science, or related field
  • Previous teaching experience in exercise science

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as ACSM-EP or NSCA CSCS
  • A degree from a regionally accredited institution with demonstrated opportunities for in-person learning, collaboration, and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Teach up to 8 classes during the academic year in exercise science or related areas
  • Meet with prospective students and their families and attend events on campus aimed at prospective students
  • Participate in professional organizations
  • Participate in academic citizenship
