About The Position

The College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites nominations and applications for an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation. This is a 9-month, tenure-track, full-time faculty position. The successful candidate will complement or add to existing strengths within the Exercise Science Program and the College of Education and Health Professions. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate both synergy with existing teaching strengths and a commitment to promoting a culture of research excellence. This is an in-person position, and on-campus presence is an essential function. Extensive in-person engagement in activities such as office hours, student advising, collaborative work, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is required. Through teaching, research, and service, this position supports the University’s 150 Forward priorities of student success, research excellence, and an employer-of-choice environment. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Exercise Science or related field conferred by the start of employment
  • An established or emerging research agenda with clear trajectory toward external funding.
  • Record of refereed peer-reviewed publications and presentations

  • Evidence of interdisciplinary research bridging exercise science, health, and education
  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Strong potential for, or history of securing external funding
  • Evidence of effective teaching and student mentorship

Responsibilities

  • Establishing a research agenda capable of securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at professional conferences
  • Teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Exercise Science
  • Supervising theses, dissertations, and honors projects
  • Mentor/advise both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
