About The Position

We are hiring an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) specializing in the work of Martin Heidegger. The ideal candidate will possess expertise across the Heideggerian corpus and contribute to our departmental focus on Continental Philosophy. We are seeking a scholar who can place Heidegger in conversation with and complement our existing strengths in areas such as Latin American philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and the history of philosophy. The Philosophy Department has 15 members and offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in relevant languages. The role involves teaching in DePaul's Liberal Studies Program/First-Year Program. Opportunities exist to collaborate with various university programs and institutes, including Women’s and Gender Studies, Institute for Business and Professional Ethics, Comparative Literature Program, Center for Latino Research, Chinese Studies Program, and African and Black Diaspora Studies Program.

Requirements

• Specialization in the work of Martin Heidegger.
• Expertise across the Heideggerian corpus.
• Ability to place Heidegger in conversation with and complement existing strengths in Latin American philosophy, ethics, political philosophy, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, and the history of philosophy.
• Demonstrable proficiency in relevant languages.
• Ph.D. (advanced ABDs will be considered if degree conferral is expected by the start date).
