The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Philosophy, with a specialization in Social and Political Philosophy, beginning August 2027. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses in Philosophy and the capstone course in the General Education program, research, and service to the university and community. The teaching load for this position is 4/4 (24 credits annually), with an emphasis on high-impact instructional practices, student success, research, and professional service. The successful candidate will be expected to teach World of Ideas (the General Education capstone course), at least one course in the History of Philosophy, and other courses in philosophy aligned with their specialization. They will also contribute to the Liberal Studies program and advise its majors. The department administers the Philosophy minor, World Religions minor, and Liberal Studies major and minor, with six full-time faculty/academic staff and an Academic Department Associate. The College of Letters and Sciences provides a liberal education foundation in humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences.
