About The Position

The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is seeking an Assistant Professor, tenure track, for the Department of Practice, Sciences and Health Outcomes Research. This role involves teaching, scholarly activity (including publications and grant funding as a principal investigator), and service to the department, school, campus, professional societies, and the public. The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment located at the Baltimore campus. Responsibilities include managing the Pharmacoeconomics & CER I course and teaching/managing other courses related to cost-effectiveness analysis, health economics, and outcomes research within PharmD, MS, and PhD programs as assigned. The University of Maryland, Baltimore campus offers opportunities for interprofessional collaboration with its schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Law, and Dentistry.

Requirements

An earned PhD in Economics or equivalent degree with a strong focus on cost-effectiveness analysis and health economics and outcomes research.
Excellent communication skills are essential.
Professional conduct in all dealings with students, faculty, and administration.
Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform via written, oral, and visual media.
Willing and able to take on responsibilities and challenges.
Willing and able to lead; take charge and offer opinions and direction.
Selecting and using instructional methods and procedures appropriate in the discipline family when learning or teaching new things.
Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, and administration.
Monitoring/assessing course content and research progress to make improvements or take corrective action.
Ability to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

Teaching, scholarly activity including publications and serving as principal investigator on externally-funded grants, and service to the department, school, campus, professional societies, and the public.
Serving as course manager for the Pharmacoeconomics & CER I course.
Teaching and/or serving as course manager for cost-effectiveness analysis, health economics and outcomes research in PharmD, MS and PhD courses as assigned by the department chair.
Lead cost-effectiveness and health economics and outcomes research instructional activities across academic programs at the school.
Supervise students.
Secure extramural funding.
Actively support the vision and mission of the department, school and campus.
Conduct original research in cost-effectiveness analysis, health economics and outcomes research, health technology assessment, and pharmaceutical health services research.
Develop interdisciplinary research collaborations with colleagues within the School of Pharmacy as well as with colleagues in the other professional schools across campus.
Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in appropriate faculty activities (e.g., faculty assembly, department meetings, faculty committees) and other endeavors.
Provide service to professional organizations, citizens of Maryland, and the public at large.
