About The Position

The Management Department at the Fowler College of Business (FCB) at San Diego State University (SDSU) seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor with expertise in Strategic Management, starting Fall 2027. The successful candidate must exhibit competence/potential in conducting high-quality scholarship in Strategic Management, resulting in top-tier journal publications and academic thought leadership, and effectively teaching the undergraduate capstone course in Strategic Management. Teaching in the core MBA Strategy course may also be expected as needed. Some evening teaching may also be required due to the diverse student body. Filling this position is contingent upon state funding. Consideration of applicants will begin in August and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. SDSU’s Fowler College of Business (FCB) is among the nation’s oldest and largest AACSB-accredited business schools. FCB houses the Wendy Gillespie Center for Advancing Global Business, designated as a National Center of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education since 1989. The Management Department’s faculty includes 17 tenured/tenure-track members, as well as several full-time and part-time lecturers. Research support includes funding for approved projects through grant programs, graduate student assistants, and a budget for conference travel and other research-related expenses. SDSU is the oldest institution of higher education in the San Diego region, with a highly diverse campus community and a student population of over 41,000. San Diego State University is currently designated as an R1 doctoral university with “very high research spending and doctoral production,” as per the Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education. Requirements

A record of original research / scholarly / creative accomplishments and demonstrated capacity to develop a vigorous and independent program of research / scholarship / creative activity.
Demonstrated capacity to teach graduate and undergraduate courses.
Demonstrated capacity to engage in both campus and professional service activities.
Demonstration of past accomplishments and / or future plans in at least two (2) or more of the “Building on Inclusive Excellence” criteria.
Ph.D. in Strategic Management or in a closely related field (e.g., economics, sociology, organizational behavior, international business) with all degree requirements met by date of hire.

Nice To Haves

Demonstrated ability or potential to publish high-quality strategic management research in top-tier journals.
Record of publications, presentations, and/or funding.
Evidence of (or potential for) research in areas that overlap with department faculty interests.
University-level teaching experience.

Responsibilities
