About The Position

The Department of Management and Human Resources at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Strategic Management. We seek a candidate with a recently completed or soon-to-be-completed PhD degree. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional promise to produce high-quality, impactful research addressing canonical questions in strategic management. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s research and teaching missions in strategic management, with a particular emphasis on advancing foundational conversations in the field. We welcome applicants whose work engages core issues such as: Firm boundaries, capabilities, and performance Competitive strategy and sustained competitive advantage Innovation, learning, and organizational design Strategic decision-making under uncertainty Candidates may employ a range of theoretical and empirical approaches, but must demonstrate a commitment to rigorous, theory-driven, and reproducible research that contributes to fundamental conversations in the strategic management field. Immigration/visa sponsorship may be available in very limited situations (e.g., F1/OPT to H-1b, H-1b change of employer), but all decisions concerning immigration/visa sponsorship will depend on an evaluation of complexity and risk.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold, or be nearing completion of, a doctorate in Strategic Management (or a related discipline) from an AACSB-accredited doctoral-granting institution, with the degree earned in 2024 or later
  • Experienced candidates must have at least one accepted publication in a top Strategy related journal
  • Those who have yet to earn a PhD must have a demonstrated potential for publication in top-tier academic journals
  • Strong grounding in canonical theories and empirical traditions in strategic management
  • Evidence of effective or promising teaching ability
  • Ability to contribute to a collegial and inclusive academic environment

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of awards or recognition by major academic societies
  • Evidence of papers published or at the R&R stage in top-tier strategic management journals (e.g., Strategic Management Journal)
  • Evidence of field-level engagement (e.g., participating in or organizing AoM or SMS events)
  • Evidence of overlapping research interests with current Fisher College of Business strategic management faculty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and publish high-quality research in leading academic journals
  • Teach undergraduate, MBA, and/or doctoral courses in strategic management
  • Contribute to doctoral education and mentoring
  • Participate actively in the department and college intellectual community
  • Provide rank-appropriate service to the department, college, university, and profession
