About The Position

Daemen University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice for its Criminal Justice Program. This role is designed to help lead, strengthen, and further develop the program, which is interdisciplinary and prepares graduates for criminal justice professions with a strong liberal arts foundation. The position involves teaching responsibilities equivalent to 24 credit hours per academic year, developing co-curricular programming, and providing student advisement and mentoring. The position reports to the Chairs of History & Political Science and Psychological Sciences, who serve as co-directors of the program.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Criminal Justice or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.
  • Ability to teach Criminology, Policing and Corrections, Criminal Justice Theory, and the Capstone experience.
  • Relevant practical experience in the criminal justice field.
  • Willingness to work with students in securing meaningful internships.
  • Willingness to plan programming to engage students on campus or in the community in experiential learning opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Experience supervising student research projects.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice, equivalent to 24 credit hours across the two-semester academic year.
