About The Position
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Florida’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, tenure-accruing Assistant Professor position beginning August 16, 2027. The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda in the philosophy of artificial intelligence broadly construed, including work intersecting with ethics, cognitive science, philosophy of mind, and related areas. Tenure-line faculty are typically assigned four courses per academic year at undergraduate and graduate levels. The position also includes service to the department, university, and profession, significant contributions to graduate education, and mentoring graduate students. The successful candidate will join a department with colleagues working in philosophy of AI and related areas, within a university that has made artificial intelligence an institutional priority.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Philosophy, or completion of the Ph.D. by the date of hire.
- An active research agenda in the philosophy and ethics of artificial intelligence.
- Evidence of effective teaching.
