Assistant Professor of Instruction, School of Nursing Undergraduate Studies
About The Position
The University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing at Galveston invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in the Undergraduate program. Specialty areas include medical/surgical, community and population health, adult & family health, and acute & critical care. The academic rank will be Assistant Professor of Instruction, commensurate with degree and experience. Preferred candidates will have university-level teaching experience, clinical experience in their specialty area, and a defined program of scholarship. The School of Nursing, founded in 1890, is the first nursing program in the Southwest and offers a range of academic programs. It operates within UTMB, fostering an interprofessional environment with other health sciences schools. The school is equipped with advanced facilities for research and education, including a state-of-the-art laboratory, a Community Space for Health and Wellbeing, and the Research Innovation and Scientific Excellence center. UTMB itself includes multiple hospitals, clinics, a Health Education Center for simulation, and the Galveston National Lab. The UTMB community is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Requirements
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.

Responsibilities
- Effectively use innovative, state of the art teaching methodologies and learning activities that promote excellence in classroom and online instruction.
- Participate in course design, development, implementation, and evaluation to provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
- Maintain academic excellence in education, practice and/or research through participation in continuing education programs.
- Serve as academic advisor to students.
- Demonstrate an emerging or established leadership within a defined area of nursing practice.
- Exhibit leadership in clinical settings for increased collaboration with nursing colleagues and other disciplines.
- Disseminate scholarly work in peer review publications and present at state, national and international meetings.
- Direct and engage in scholarship that contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge and nursing science.
- Actively engage in School of Nursing and university committees.
- Participate actively in local, state, national, and international professional organizations.
