About The Position

Cornell College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics and Business specializing in Marketing Management, beginning in Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be a creative colleague committed to undergraduate teaching and eager to co-create and lead a marketing management program. The role will help business and marketing students adapt and thrive in a changing technology environment. Dynamic, student-centered instruction is expected, using pedagogical methods that take advantage of Cornell’s One Course At A Time approach. The position requires teaching courses such as introduction to marketing, digital marketing, consumer research, strategic marketing management, and related courses. Cornell’s academic calendar is divided into eight 3½-week blocks, during which students take and faculty teach a single course. Full-time faculty teach six block courses during the academic year; the other two blocks are reserved for professional development, course preparation, or travel to academic meetings. Further opportunities for summer teaching and research supervision may be available. Faculty are expected to participate in departmental service and facilitate their department’s support of the college’s Ingenuity core curriculum. The college encourages interdisciplinary interests and teaching strategies that capitalize on its distinctive academic calendar. The One Course At A Time model allows faculty to take students off campus without impinging on other course commitments. Class size is limited to 25 students, and upper-level courses are often smaller. Cornell College is a national liberal arts college committed to excellence in teaching and creating a welcoming community in which all individuals are respected and included. Its curriculum emphasizes writing, quantitative reasoning, intercultural literacy, and experiential learning. The college’s One Course At A Time approach fosters student engagement and close faculty-student relationships while allowing faculty flexibility to design and carry out classes on or off campus. Cornell is located in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Applicants should submit a letter of application or cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable), a teaching statement describing teaching interests, experience, and philosophy—including examples of inclusive pedagogy—and names and contact information for at least three references. Formal reference letters will be requested later. Applications will be reviewed beginning November 16, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. Cornell is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from underrepresented groups. Cornell complies with Iowa’s Smoke-free Air Act, utilizes E-Verify, and requires satisfactory completion of a background check.
