Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited medical school program.
  • Graduate of formal specialty training program in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine or eligibility for ABIM.
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Hematology or eligibility for Hematology board.
  • Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Oncology or eligibility for Medical Oncology board.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or licensed by the State of Illinois prior to employment.
  • Experience providing services to multicultural populations.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a full-time faculty member in Departmental and Medical School activities as a Clinical Teacher.
  • Assume other divisional and departmental administrative responsibility as directed by the Division Chief.
  • Teach, mentor, and supervise individual students/residents/fellows during inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-up visits.
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, seminars, conferences, and rounds for students and residents, including those in the Hematology/Oncology elective and other learners in the Department of Internal Medicine and other departments, as well as hospitals in communities of Central and Southern Illinois.
  • Provide periodic seminars/educational sessions for the division.
  • Prepare conferences for the Department of Internal Medicine.
  • Conduct research as defined by individual interest and in compliance with department policy.
  • Complete inpatient and outpatient consultations.
  • Develop and maintain professional practice in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Achieve a minimum target of 4,385 RVUs per year once off guarantee.
  • Staff the inpatient service equally between physician faculty, including on-call accompanied by fellow and resident coverage.
  • Provide sub-specialty care for all malignancies and malignant and benign hematology.
  • Participate in University, SIU HC, and hospital committees as requested.
