About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is expanding and seeking exceptional candidates to join its Pain Medicine faculty. Requirements

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification for Added Qualification in Pain Medicine.
  • Equivalence to board certification can be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience is highly desirable.
  • Teaching experience is highly desirable.
  • Interest in pursuing academic scholarly activities, including research, is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and treating patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic pain conditions, including cancer-related pain, spine pain, neuropathic, and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Utilizing various treatment modalities, including medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy and other specialties.
  • Communicating effectively and collaborating with multidisciplinary specialties, including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Hematology/Oncology, PM&R, physical therapy, and behavioral health.
  • Performing fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, such as spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and interventional modalities with implantable devices like spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal delivery systems.
  • Supervising residents, Pain Medicine Fellows, and ARNPs.
  • Seeing patients and performing procedures independently if required.
  • Participating in the department's academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, Outpatient Pain Job, and participating in departmental conferences, committees, and faculty meetings.
  • Pursuing academic scholarly activities, including research.
