About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is experiencing a period of expansion and is seeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. Requirements

  • Completion of a US-approved residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology (equivalence to board certification can be determined on a case-by-case basis).
  • Comfort performing various cases, including orthopedics, GYN, community OB, abdominal cases, general vascular, and kidney transplants.
  • Ability to supervise residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Ability to perform cases independently if required.
  • Comfort participating in academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, departmental conferences, and faculty meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Research experience is highly desirable.
  • Limited skills in regional anesthesia are helpful.
  • Ability to anesthetize older children is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various cases, including orthopedics, GYN, community OB, abdominal cases, general vascular, and kidney transplants.
  • Supervise residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs.
  • Perform cases independently if required.
  • Participate in the department's academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees.
  • Participate in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in call, which is expected to be 3-4 overnight calls per month (some calls may be from home).
  • Potentially participate in evening and weekend calls.
  • Adapt effort distribution based on department needs, candidate's interests, and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.
