About The Position

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track position in Analytical or Physical Chemistry. This is a full-time, nine-month, benefits-eligible position starting in August 2027, with a potential opportunity to begin in January 2027. This faculty position requires teaching a full faculty load in Chemistry, building an undergraduate research program, and actively participating in service to the Department, College of EMS, and the University. Teaching assignments will include general chemistry courses and upper-level courses in analytical and possibly physical chemistry. The role also involves supporting Chemistry Department initiatives and programs related to forensic science applications.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry (Analytical or Physical Chemistry preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to teach lecture and lab courses in general chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach upper-level courses in analytical chemistry.
  • Ability to establish an independent research program involving undergraduate students.
  • Ability to seek external funding for undergraduate research.
  • Ability to contribute to Departmental emphases related to forensic science applications and programming.
  • Ability to assist with instrument maintenance.
  • Ability to perform academic advising.
  • Ability to perform committee service.
  • Must have a criminal background check.
  • Must answer questions regarding sexual violence and sexual harassment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Physical Chemistry teaching or research.
  • Experience with forensic science applications and programming.
  • Experience with curriculum development.

Responsibilities
