About The Position

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Architecture. The Department of Architecture offers accredited Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Architecture (M.Arch), and Master of Interior Architecture (M. Int. Arch.) programs, emphasizing the integration of knowledge-based curriculum with design studios. The department aims to equip students with tools to become responsible professionals, motivated by civic duty and engagement, utilizing the urban setting of the Los Angeles basin as a living laboratory. Requirements

  • Possess an advanced degree in architecture (Master or PhD) completed by the start of the appointment
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Experience teaching architecture design studios at the post-secondary education level

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or capacity to teach building envelope systems and assemblies, environmental control systems, building performance, and sustainable design practices
  • Experience coordinating a team-taught design studio and/or student advising
  • Capacity to advance academic knowledge and/or practice of architecture through research, scholarship, and/or creative activities
  • Record of service on university committees, to the discipline of architecture, to professional architectural organizations, and/or to community organizations related to architecture
  • Hold a license to practice architecture in the United States, or be actively pursuing licensure
  • At least 2-years of experience teaching architecture design studios at the post-secondary education level

Responsibilities

  • Teach and coordinate architecture core studios (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year)
  • Teach upper-level elective design studios, lecture courses, and elective seminars within the B.Arch and M.Arch programs
  • Contribute to department, college, and university operations through service
  • Maintain creative and scholarly activities that inform teaching
  • Lead courses and curriculum that meet the NAAB SC.6 Building Integration requirement
