About The Position

The School of Nursing in Jacksonville State University’s College of Health Professions and Wellness invites applications for an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing. The Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing provides educational opportunities/experiences to traditional and non-traditional students. Scholarly teaching is an expectation within doctorate and graduate level courses in Nursing along with doctoral level research (oversight and management of DNP scholarly projects which may include advanced data analysis). The faculty member is required to teach courses within his/her concentration area on campus, off-campus, online courses and with possible videoconferencing depending on need. The faculty member is required to maintain clinical practice with his/her specialty area. This position is a 12-month hybrid position and requires extensive online engagement with students and often on campus visits for diverse university functions as mandated by the administrative team. The faculty member is expected to work collaboratively with the DNP Coordinator and Chief Nursing Administrator to facilitate desired student outcomes. Additional requirements include skillful and effective use of English (both oral and written), basic computer skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues as well as professional organizations within their field of expertise outside of JSU.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in a Nursing or related field
  • Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse Practitioner
  • Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner with FNP certifications to practice in the state of Alabama or be eligible for an Alabama nursing license
  • Skillful and effective use of English (both oral and written)
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Dual Certification: Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP).
  • DNP with experience in management and oversight of scholarly projects.
  • MSN or higher in Nursing Education or Nurse Educator Certificate.
  • Extensive experience in online teaching (pedagogical and andragogical best practices).
  • Instructional design experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides educational opportunities/experiences to traditional and non-traditional students.
