About The Position

The School of Art & Art History at the University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Printmaking, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. The successful candidate will maintain an active record of high-impact creative research at the national or international level and contribute to the School’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The School seeks an artist-educator with an established printmaking practice, a strong teaching record, and a commitment to maintaining safe, well-equipped studios. Areas of interest include innovative approaches to traditional techniques, digital and hybrid methods, expanded and sculptural print forms, sustainable and non-toxic practices, and collaborative and publishing models. The candidate will develop a forward-looking research agenda that expands the program through cross-disciplinary and community-engaged initiatives. The position offers an opportunity to shape the printmaking program and connect the School of Art & Art History with Graphicstudio, a contemporary printmaking studio where artists collaborate with master printers. The candidate will engage with Graphicstudio’s master printers, visiting artists, and programming, and create pathways for students to learn through professional collaborative printmaking. In collaboration with School faculty, Graphicstudio, and the USF Contemporary Art Museum (CAM), the candidate will bring studio teaching, collaborative production, exhibition, and research into closer conversation. The teaching load is two courses per semester, typically at the undergraduate level, with the possibility of graduate teaching as needed. The faculty member may also propose and sponsor visiting artists through the Kennedy Family Artist and Scholar Residency Program, which brings recognized artists to engage students and the Tampa Bay community through lectures, critiques, and collaborative projects.
