Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems (MIS)
About The Position
Augsburg University's Department of Business Administration and Economics is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Management Information Systems (MIS), beginning August 2027. This position emphasizes engaging undergraduate instruction, student mentorship, curriculum development, and scholarly activity. Requirements
- A Ph.D. (or international equivalent) or terminal degree in Information Systems or a related field is required.
- Doctoral candidates will be considered if the doctorate will be completed by August, 2027.
- Demonstrated abilities in working in an academic community committed to mentoring undergraduates and intentional diversity.
- Skills and experiences that demonstrate intercultural competence.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Python, SQL, R, Data Visualization, and SAP is preferred.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence (through materials such as evaluations or teaching portfolios).
- Experience mentoring students.
- Potential for collaboration and productive scholarship/creative pursuits.
- Effectiveness in teaching and professional activities/scholarship which engages undergraduates and stimulates their vocational potential.
- Post-doctoral/industrial experience.
- Previous college-level teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in MIS, including MIS Management, MIS Operations, Enterprise Data Management, project management, and statistics.
- Provide engaging undergraduate instruction.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Advise and mentor students.
- Supervise undergraduate research and capstone projects.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
- Contribute to departmental and university service.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship appropriate to rank.
- Participate in departmental governance, university committees, and professional service.
- Integrate real-world applications, undergraduate research, experiential learning, and community engagement into the study of the discipline.
