Assistant Professor in Architectural Engineering (AY 27/28)
About The Position
California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) is seeking two full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professors in Architectural Engineering, focusing on undergraduate education and structural engineering. This role offers a unique opportunity to integrate teaching and scholarly activities within Cal Poly's 'Learn by Doing' educational philosophy. The department aims to prepare students for successful careers in structural engineering. The appointed faculty will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in structural analysis, mechanics, and building structure design, with an emphasis on earthquake engineering. Responsibilities also include conducting applied research with students, advising, professional engagement, and university service.
Requirements
- Either a doctorate in structural engineering or a closely related field, along with evidence of scholarship related to building structures, OR a master’s degree in structural engineering, a structural engineering license or the equivalent, and significant professional engineering practice experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration in multidisciplinary settings.
- Willingness to perform service to the department, college, university, profession and community.
- Ability to investigate in the areas of the scholarship of discovery, integration, application, and/or teaching and share findings with the academic and professional community.

Responsibilities
