About The Position

The Department of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in Adult Development and Aging, beginning in August 2027. The role will complement and expand the department’s strengths in developmental psychology and support a comprehensive life-course perspective. The successful candidate will maintain a cohesive research program that meaningfully engages undergraduate students. Research may address a wide range of topics in the psychology of aging and may span individual, social, and structural levels of analysis. The department welcomes critical and anti-colonial perspectives that challenge Western-centric universal models of development and center the lived experiences of marginalized communities. The candidate will teach core courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, or Research Methods; develop intermediate courses for the Individual, Social, and Cultural Processes or Cognitive and Behavioral Processes requirements; and offer advanced seminars in their area of expertise. The candidate will contribute to inclusive excellence in teaching through evidence-based, inclusive pedagogies that foster a classroom environment where students from all backgrounds can flourish. The position carries a 3-2 teaching load, with a one-course reduction in the first year (2-2). Before tenure review, the faculty member receives either a full-year research leave at 80% salary or a semester at full salary. Tenured faculty have generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves. New full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receive start-up funding for research and professional development. The position offers full benefits and a starting salary of $102,500. A Ph.D. in developmental psychology or a related field is required by the beginning of the appointment.
