About The Position

The College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse is seeking an Assistant Professor in Economics. The CBA is a vibrant academic unit with six departments, over 3,000 students, and a strong commitment to quality education, accredited by AACSB International. This role involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advising students, maintaining currency in the field, evaluating student work, and providing feedback. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain an active scholarship program and contribute to the department, college, and university through service. The position is within the Economics department.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Economics or related field by start date.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following fields: Development Economics, Labor Economics, or Health Economics.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
  • Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.
  • A demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed academic journals in Labor Economics, Health Economics, Development Economics, or closely related areas.
  • Experience teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: data analysis for business, labor economics, health economics, and Women in the U.S. Economy.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (if applicable) and advising students.
  • Preparing for and holding classes.
  • Maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment.
  • Evaluating students’ work.
  • Assessing student outcomes.
  • Providing regular and substantive feedback on student work.
  • Maintaining appropriate records.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Maintaining an active, on-going program of scholarship appropriate to their discipline.
  • Providing service to the department, college, university, community and/or professional organizations.
  • Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.
