Virginia State University is a four-year, public comprehensive 1890 Land Grant institution and HBCU (Historically Black College/University) committed to the preparation of a diverse population and dedicated to using a holistic approach to academic excellence, and student success and engagement. VSU offers programs from the undergraduate to doctorate levels including majors in its Colleges of Engineering and Technology; Agriculture; Business; Education; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Natural and Health Sciences. Situated in Chesterfield County at Ettrick, VSU is accessible via Interstate Highways 95 and 85, which meet in Petersburg. The faculty in this position is responsible for the delivery of instruction to students and to engage in professional activities primarily related to effective teaching, research in the discipline, and significant service to students, the University, the profession, the community, and humankind at large. The mission of the Department of Mathematics & Economics is to provide excellent education and research opportunities to a diverse student body in order to prepare them for productive careers at industrial, governmental, and academic settings in the rapidly evolving fields of mathematics, Economics, and finance.
