About The Position

The Division of Counseling and Psychology at Rivier University invites applications for an Assistant professor for its APA-accredited PsyD program in Counseling and School Psychology. This will be an in-person, full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month term appointment. The position will primarily include responsibilities in the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) Counseling and School Psychology program with a focus on School-Child Psychology teaching courses in: Cognitive Assessment, Psychometrics, Developmental Psychology, School Based Consultation, and other courses focused on work in schools and with children. Faculty are expected to be able to deliver engaging and evidence-based instruction in relevant psychological theories, research methods, and applications while fostering critical thinking and supporting student growth. Training is personal and student-centered and includes the active socialization of students as psychologists. As a professor of practice, faculty are expected to maintain an applied practice (typically one day/week) rather than maintaining active, funded scholarship; either is welcome.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Counseling Psychology or School Psychology from an APA-accredited program, with a minimum of two years of academic or clinical practice.
  • Licensed psychologist in the state of New Hampshire is preferred.
  • Candidates licensed in other states who could transfer the license to New Hampshire are encouraged to apply.
  • Graduate teaching or clinical supervision experience in counseling and/or school psychology is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated scholarship, including applied research, in the areas of counseling and/or school psychology.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring doctoral students, as well as the ability to work effectively with students of all levels and abilities and from diverse backgrounds and with diverse identities
  • Doctoral teaching experience preferred

  • Mentoring as an experienced clinical professional is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assume face-to-face teaching, advisement, and mentoring responsibilities for graduate students in counseling and school psychology.
  • Research Advising including participation in doctoral research and dissertation committees.
  • Provide University-based supervision for students completing practicums and internships.
  • Participate in student programs and data collection and assessment.
  • Participate in ongoing program growth and development, particularly with respect to the integration of social justice throughout all program experiences.
  • Participate in recruitment, retention, and enrollment opportunities to attract and retain a diverse group of graduate and doctoral students.
  • Maintain professional and licensure requirements commensurate with teaching graduate studies and supervising practicum and internship experiences.
  • Hold a license as a psychologist in the state of New Hampshire.
  • Provide service to the programs and the University.
  • Develop/maintain an active research agenda that promotes student involvement.
  • Join an experienced and talented faculty to model collaboration for student success as counselors and school psychologists.
