About The Position
The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) is seeking applications for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, starting Fall 2027. Requirements
- An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent. Candidates nearing completion (ABD) will be considered if the doctorate is awarded by the start of the appointment.

- Ability to develop an externally funded, applied research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students, and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to hands-on, student-centered learning and teaching.
- Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interests in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.
- Compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083 as a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check.
- Establish an on-campus presence.

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and master's level courses in computer science and/or software engineering.

- Engage in scholarly work of high quality, evidenced by external peer review.
- Perform service activities at all levels of the University.
- Develop an externally funded, applied research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, and partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Demonstrate commitment to hands-on, student-centered learning and teaching.
- Collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
- Potentially teach in a year-round operations model, involving two out of three semesters annually.
