About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Assistant Research Professor position. The successful applicant will be expected to establish and maintain a successful career funded by external grants in behavioral health research. The department is dedicated to preventing and treating psychiatric disorders through clinical work, research, and education. Our research programs, particularly in Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, are expanding to investigate sleep health, insomnia, and related conditions. The department's research priorities also include mood and anxiety disorders, data science and AI in behavioral neuroscience, psychotic-spectrum disorders (especially First Episode Psychosis), late-life mental health, child and adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, and addiction. Ideally, this position will focus on sleep health that intersects with at least one of these other priority areas. This multidisciplinary approach aligns with the department and the College of Medicine's commitment to team science and innovative solutions for complex behavioral health issues. The Department of Psychiatry has a strong international reputation in the clinical and translational study of sleep and associated conditions. Collaboration is encouraged across various departments and colleges, including Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, and Psychology. The University of Arizona offers a state-of-the-art, federally funded Sleep and Translational Neuroscience Research Center for use by this position. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

Evidence of funded research and/or research training and publications.
MD, DO, MD/PhD, or PhD with research emphasis in sleep health/insomnia and associated conditions.

Develop and maintain a focused, extramurally funded program of research.
Cultivate an international reputation in their area of research.
Effectively communicate and disseminate scholarly activity.
Serve as a research mentor to students and trainees within the department and across the medical center.
