The Department of Neurology at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking to recruit a dynamic candidate to expand its clinical and/or basic science research programs within our Neuromuscular Section. The position is full time faculty, with the opportunity for academic promotion, which is determined on criteria of demonstrated excellence in the areas of education, research, clinical care, and community service. This faculty position will work in the Neuromuscular section, which currently has 6 MDs, 4 APPs (2 Physician Assistants and 2 Genetic Counselors) and an ACGME neuromuscular fellow. Job duties in this faculty position will include clinical, teaching, research, and service responsibilities. The overall determination of research and clinical activities and allocation of time and effort will be subject to the determination of the Section Head. In addition, specific responsibilities will be as follows: Clinical days involve patients with neuromuscular disorders. There will be opportunity to perform electrodiagnostic studies, biopsies and neuromuscular pathology on patients seen in clinic who need these tests and on other patients as allowable by demand and other personnel performing these studies and their schedules. There will be no inpatient attending responsibilities. General weeknight evening call (currently 5p-7p) on the general neurology service is provided by a rotating pool of UCH credentialed faculty (currently about once per month), but participation in a neuromuscular call rotation covering 5p-8p weeknights in required. Participation in all administrative/didactic meetings of the neuromuscular section is expected. Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected. This position will also work to develop our ultrasound program, educating trainees and building and expanding our service line. In addition, there will be involvement in the teaching of students, residents, and fellows (including the neuromuscular fellow), and in section and department-wide Quality and Performance Improvement projects. Other duties may be assigned as need arises.
