About The Position

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking to enhance its Civil, Environmental, and Construction Engineering (CECE) Department by hiring a full-time, 9-month, tenure-earning Assistant Professor or tenured Associate Professor/Professor in Transportation Engineering Systems. This position is expected to begin on August 8, 2027. The selected candidate will be expected to have a demonstrated record of, or clear potential for, independent research leading to extramural funding and national/international recognition. Responsibilities include training postdoctoral scholars, advising graduate students, and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Civil Engineering. UCF's Transportation Science and Technology program is highly ranked, and the university is establishing the Florida Transportation Research Institute (FTRI).

Requirements

  • A doctorate from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field at the time of the appointment.
  • For appointment as a tenured associate professor or professor upon hire, a demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor in the applicable tenure home.
  • Expertise in one or more aspects of transportation, including but not limited to: connected vehicles/automated vehicles’ applications; transportation technologies; traveler behavior and demand modeling; freight and transportation logistics; applications of econometrics and data analytics to transportation planning; traffic signals’ control and technologies; traffic operations; smart mobility; big data and internet of things; air mobility; transportation economics and policies.
  • Demonstrated or clear potential for creative and independent research that has led or would lead to strong extramurally funded research.
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • H-1B visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H-1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.
