About The Position

The ABET-accredited Architectural Engineering (AREN) program, joining the Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. This role involves a nine-month academic appointment, with a potential for an additional summer appointment based on departmental needs and funding. The successful candidate will focus on Building Mechanical Systems and is expected to possess strong fundamental knowledge in architectural engineering, with the ability to apply this expertise to address societally relevant challenges. The position requires a commitment to original scholarship, effective teaching, student mentoring, and service to the university and profession. The candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and program assessment for the Architectural Engineering program.

Requirements

• Earned doctoral degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering or science discipline by the appointment date.
• Candidates completing all Ph.D. requirements except the dissertation (ABD) will be considered, provided they demonstrate clear progress toward completion.
• Strong background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and building environmental systems.
• Potential to develop a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program.
• Commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and student mentoring.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and with industry partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineering licensure or the ability to obtain licensure is desirable/preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
• Develop an independent, externally funded research program.
