About The Position

The Assistant Production Manager oversees daily farm operations to support optimal flock performance, hatching egg production, and fertility. The role manages assigned breeder operations and breeder producer relationships, ensuring hatcheries receive the required quantity and quality of hatching eggs. It implements and monitors pullet and breeder production programs, supports contract growers, and provides production and cost information to accounting and management. The position also leads staff and operations in alignment with company values and strategic objectives, while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Poultry Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field from an accredited institution, or four years of equivalent education and experience.
• At least four years of poultry breeder operational experience.
• At least four years of supervisory experience within a similar environment.
• Advanced poultry science knowledge.
• Demonstrated high initiative and ownership of projects.
• Ability to confront and manage conflict situations with employees and contractors.
• High work capacity, dependability, results orientation, and a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Demonstrated success building effective teams, with the ability to lead by engaging and motivating a team and influencing an organization.
• Highly effective interpersonal communication skills to communicate and interact with all organizational levels.
• Advanced knowledge of math functions and skills.
• Solid computer skills, particularly with MS Office programs.
• Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage assigned breeder operations.
• Ensure the required quantity and quality of hatching eggs are available for hatcheries.
• Oversee breeder producer relationships and goods and services associated with producer needs.
• Implement and monitor pullet and breeder production programs.
• Ensure training and development of Breeder Representatives and Technicians.
• Provide communication and direction for contract growers.
• Monitor the development of contract growers.
• Monitor pullet placements, moves, and vaccinations, and ensure hatch egg numbers.
• Provide performance and cost numbers to accounting and management.
• Monitor pullet and breeder flock health and adherence to blood testing procedures.
• Maintain pullet growing agreements and breeder flock agreements.
• Lead and manage in a manner consistent with company values and strategic objectives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, including animal welfare, safety, and environmental requirements.
