Assistant Produce Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Department Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring a clean, well-stocked, and customer-friendly produce section. This role involves receiving, pricing, and merchandising fresh fruits and vegetables while maintaining high standards of quality, freshness, and presentation. The Assistant Produce Manager helps manage inventory, coordinates shrink, and ensures compliance with food safety handling standards. They supervise and train produce staff and assign daily tasks. Additionally, they address customer inquiries, build attractive displays, and assist in maintaining accurate sales and inventory records. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.
Requirements
- Customer service skills: Friendly and helpful attitude toward shoppers
- Basic produce knowledge: Ability to identify fruits and vegetables and assess freshness
- Attention to detail: Spotting spoiled items, proper labeling, and pricing
- Physical stamina: Ability to lift heavy boxes, stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks and use a box cutter
- Organizational skills: Keeping displays neat and rotating stock properly
