About The Position

The Assistant Produce Manager oversees daily produce department operations, ensuring freshness, quality, attractive presentation, and excellent customer service. The role supports sales through effective merchandising, inventory control, ordering, and shrink reduction. It is a fast-paced, hands-on leadership position focused on maintaining produce standards, supporting and developing associates, and contributing to department performance.

• Ability to lift, move, and stack product and work in coolers and refrigerated environments.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays.
• Reliable attendance and compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and the Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily Produce Department operations, with a focus on freshness, quality, and customer service.
• Deliver knowledgeable, friendly service and ensure associates demonstrate strong product knowledge.
• Execute corporate merchandising programs, planograms, seasonal sets, and promotional displays.
• Maintain full, fresh, clean, and visually appealing produce displays.
• Rotate products, remove damaged or unsellable items, and maintain freshness standards.
• Order, receive, inspect, and store products in accordance with food safety and rotation guidelines.
• Manage shrink through inventory controls, root-cause identification, and waste-reduction strategies.
• Build and manage labor schedules aligned with business needs.
• Train, coach, and develop produce associates while maintaining a positive team environment.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operational standards.
