About The Position

The Assistant Principal-Academics will assist with the development and implementation of the master schedule and student schedules. This role involves analyzing and assessing past school performance to plan for new programs, and assisting with the evaluation of instructional staff. The Assistant Principal will implement and review data related to common assessments, oversee the RtI program, and stay informed about current curriculum trends and instructional strategies. Responsibilities include conducting classroom visits to support teachers, assisting in personnel selection, planning professional development, and developing teacher orientations. The role also involves participating in administrative staff development, planning academic teams/competitions, and following up on curriculum/lesson preparation. Additionally, the Assistant Principal will coordinate academic software data, monitor staff mentorship, oversee IEP, EL, GT, and STEM programs, attend student activities, coordinate before and after school programs, and collaborate with parents and the community. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree or higher in educational administration is preferred.
  • School administrator experience is preferred.
  • A valid Missouri Principal’s Certificate for the appropriate grade levels is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of the master schedule and student schedules.
  • Analyze and assess past school performance in order to plan for new programs.
  • Assist with the evaluation of instructional staff.
  • Implement and review data related to common assessments such as district assessments, Curriculum Based Assessments, and NWEA MAP/EOC.
  • Implement and oversee the RtI program.
  • Remain abreast of current curriculum trends, instructional strategies, practices, developments, instructional materials, and related governmental procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct classroom visits to support teachers in classroom management and instructional strategies.
  • Assist in the selection of school personnel.
  • Plan activities for professional development.
  • Develop and implement teacher orientations.
  • Participate in workshops, in-services, and other administrative staff development activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and follow up on school academic teams/competitions.
  • Curriculum/scope and sequence, lesson prep, and substitute lesson prep follow-up.
  • Coordinate and review data from academic software.
  • Monitor staff mentorship program.
  • Oversee IEP, EL, GT, and STEM programs in the campus.
  • Attend student activities and events outside of the academic day.
  • Coordinate before and after school programs and clubs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, school, and community on all school-related matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
