About The Position

This position is responsible for providing direct health care, emergency first aid, and related health services according to Frontier Schools’ policies and procedures. The Medical Assistant will also be involved in preventive health care, health counseling, and health instruction for students, parents, and staff. The role requires maintaining student immunization records, performing state-mandated screenings, and assisting families in accessing medical care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher degree
  • Currently licensed as a Certified Medical Assistant in the state of Missouri.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to establish and effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
  • Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
  • Ability to analyze data.
  • Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in field is preferred.
  • Ability to organize special programs for assigned campus.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the formulation of campus health program goals and objectives.
  • Provides direct health care, emergency first aid and care, and related health services according to Frontier Schools’ policies and procedures.
  • Provides preventive health care by providing appraisals, screening programs, referral and follow-up.
  • Recognizes, reports, and uses control measures on communicable diseases.
  • Monitors and provides follow-up on immunization needs.
  • Provides families with information on health and medical resources and assists families to access medical care.
  • Conducts health counseling, makes home visits, and follows through on health problems as needed.
  • Conducts specific health instruction for students, parents, and staff and serves as a resource to staff regarding health instruction.
  • Maintains and submits Student Immunization Records to Department of State Health Services.
  • Contacts parents regarding Immunization requirements.
  • Performs state mandated student screenings and submits results to Department of State Health Services.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
