The primary role and purpose of a teacher is to provide students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. Teachers will help students develop the skills necessary to be productive members of society. This role involves assisting with curriculum development, supervising textbook review and ordering, overseeing curriculum and lesson plan development, updating course descriptions, coordinating after-school programs, managing daily class schedules, coordinating academic activities, overseeing instructional field trip planning, handling failing letters and summer school preparation, and bringing the academic and event calendar to weekly administrative meetings. The position also includes conducting student performance conferences, scheduling and coordinating tutorial programs and after-school/Saturday school activities, assessing grade reports, preparing standardized testing schedules and inventory, overseeing homework and classwork tracking, reporting on Illuminate usage, reviewing student progress, and maintaining a list of high honor/honor students. Additionally, the role supports school improvement initiatives, personnel management through teacher evaluations, administration and fiscal/facilities management (including overseeing operations in the Principal's absence, assisting with schedules, overseeing attendance records, and aiding in safety drills), staff development (including orientation and in-service training), and student management (supervising during non-instructional hours, fostering positive behavior, enforcing school rules, and holding conferences). The position also involves supervision of teachers' duties, discipline issues, and chairing the Charter School’s Restorative Justice Committee, as well as managing support services and establishing communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
