About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Assistant Preschool Teacher conducts day-to-day educational activities in an inclusive preschool classroom for children ages 12 months to 5 years, with and without autism spectrum disorder. The role provides educational activities and support to promote language, social, and adaptive behavior development. Support includes preparing, setting up, and cleaning up activities, as well as setting up the classroom environment. The teacher monitors children’s activity and behavior in the classroom and performs related responsibilities as required. The position must be performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option, though Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must pass a background check.
• May pursue an Early Childhood Education degree, credential, or certificate within the first year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of one year of college coursework toward a degree in early childhood education, special education, psychology, human development, or a related field; priority will be given.
• At least one year of experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
