The Department of Mechanical Engineering is a large department with over 65 faculty, 350 graduate students, and 1110 undergraduate students, conducting significant funded research. Penn State supports interdisciplinary research through various university-level institutes. The Department offers comprehensive degree programs in mechanical engineering, including online options. The Cocoziello Institute of Real Estate Innovation is a university-wide institute focused on advancing innovation in the built environment, bringing together over 150 interdisciplinary experts and offering resources for faculty research and collaboration.

Requirements

Ph.D. in engineering or a closely related field by the appointment start date (for Assistant Professor).
Demonstrated ability as a teacher or research worker (for Assistant Professor).
Shown definite evidence of growth in scholarly or professional achievement (for Assistant Professor).
Established reputation in scholarly or professional achievement (for Associate Professor).
Ability to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Ability to develop an internationally recognized, externally-funded research program.
Ability to contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and profession through service.
Ability to assume a key role in interdisciplinary research collaborations, particularly in partnership with the Cocoziello Institute.
Ability to be a collaborative leader who will promote and enhance excellence and innovation in interdisciplinary research.
