About The Position

The Department of Music at Mississippi State University seeks an energetic, collaborative, and artistic candidate to build a dynamic applied trumpet studio. This role is being filled at an exciting time for the department, which has new facilities, strong enrollment, and planned growth. The successful candidate will bring an innovative perspective to teaching trumpet, a collaborative approach to chamber music and performance, and a collegial spirit to departmental and university service. A secondary responsibility in the department, based on candidate strengths and departmental needs, is expected. Requirements

Completed doctorate is required at the time of appointment.
Appropriate performance experience.
Successful experience in teaching studio trumpet.

Responsibilities

Teach studio trumpet and brass-related courses
Conduct research and creative achievements, including publications, presentations, professional performances, and potential external funding, consistent with university promotion and tenure guidelines.
Direct the MSU Trumpet Consort and coach student chamber ensembles.
Undertake secondary teaching responsibilities based on departmental needs and candidate expertise.
Participate in university, college, and departmental committees, service activities, and recruiting efforts.
