About The Position

Oral Roberts University’s School of Communication & Public Affairs in the College of Arts & Cultural Studies is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication to begin in Spring or Fall 2026. This full-time faculty position involves teaching, scholarship, and service at a teaching university that encourages an active research agenda. The role includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face and virtual formats and integrating a Spirit-empowered Christian faith in the classroom. Applicants should demonstrate a history of or potential for excellent teaching and student engagement. A Ph.D. in Communication or a terminal degree in a closely related discipline is preferred; ABD candidates may also be considered. Applications are reviewed immediately.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Communication or a terminal degree in a closely related discipline is preferred; ABD candidates may also be considered.
• Integrate a Spirit-empowered Christian faith in the classroom.
• Demonstrated history of or potential for successful and excellent teaching and student engagement.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to contribute to the management and advising of the debate team or student newspaper.
• Additional skills or experience in debate coaching, event planning, grant writing, nonprofit management, or philanthropy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Teach four courses per semester across communication, strategic communication, strategic media, journalism, and debate.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face and virtual modalities.
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Connect students with internship opportunities and review those opportunities.
• Engage in scholarly research, presentations, publications, and professional development activities.
• Participate in university activities, including faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services.
• Potentially contribute to the management and advising of the debate team or student newspaper.
