The Department of Philosophy at Hanover College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy, beginning Fall 2027. The area of specialization is open, but the department seeks candidates with a strong degree of competence in both Classical Greek Philosophy and Environmental Ethics. The Philosophy Department offers a philosophy major and minor, supports campus-wide requirements in Philosophy, Writing, Speaking, Quantitative Literacy, and Mathematical Science, and offers cross-listed courses in programs including Classical Studies, Sustainability Studies, and Economics and Business. The normal teaching load is 3-3-1: three courses each in the Fall and Winter semesters and one course during the intensive, four-week Spring Term. Applications should include an application letter explaining interest in Hanover College, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of research interest, a curriculum vitae, contact information for three professional references, and copies of transcripts. Review begins December 15, 2026, and continues until the position is filled. The position begins Fall 2027.
