The Department of Philosophy at Hanover College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin Fall 2027. While the Area of Specialization (AOS) is open, candidates with a strong degree of competence in both Classical Greek Philosophy and Environmental Ethics are sought. A PhD is required by the start of Fall 2027. Preferred qualifications include evidence of excellence in teaching, research, and departmental or institutional service. The Philosophy Department offers both a philosophy major and minor, supports campus-wide requirements in Philosophy, Writing, Speaking, Quantitative Literacy, and Mathematical Science, and offers cross-listed courses in other major and minor programs, including Classical Studies, Sustainability Studies, Economics, and Business. A normal teaching load at Hanover College is 3-3-1, meaning three courses each in the Fall and Winter semesters and one course in an intensive, four-week Spring Term (traditionally, the month of May).
