About The Position

Serve as an attending physician providing care for critically ill children on the Critical Care service at Children's Hospital Colorado. This role involves working on teams with learners and advanced practice providers, as well as working independently. Clinical service includes shifts with days and in-house nights, with a mix of team types determined by the medical director. Responsibilities include supervising and educating residents, fellows, students, and advanced practice providers, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and contributing to hospital or department committees and institutional missions.

Requirements

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Board certified / Board eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • 7 or more years’ experience as pediatric intensivist (for Associate Professor of Clinical Practice)
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with professional composure
  • Skill in prioritizing patient and system needs appropriately
  • Knowledge and skill in customer service delivery
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Well organized and efficient in their work
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, family centered care, and evidence-based practice
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical experience in an academic medical center
  • Experience utilizing quality and process improvement methodologies or leading quality improvement teams/projects

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, evidence-based critical care to children in the PICU
  • Ensure responsive, high-quality and consistent service to all customers of the CHCO PICU including patients, families and referring providers
  • Maintain acceptable performance under the Section’s Ongoing Professional Evaluation matrix
  • Participate in appropriate committees within the Section of Critical Care and CHCO
  • Support Section and hospital efforts in quality improvement and education.
