Assistant or Associate Professor/Clinical Professor for the Bechtel Physician Assistant Program
About The Position
Colorado Mesa University invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor to teach in the Bechtel Physician Assistant Program. This is a full-time, in-person, 12-month position on either a tenure or clinical track. Courses may be assigned in person or in hybrid format. The position also includes professional development in the discipline, student advising, and service to the department and profession. The faculty member will contribute to course and curriculum development and evaluation, teach assigned courses, advise and evaluate students, and assist with clinical site visits. The role also participates in admissions, ARC-PA accreditation, program and university assessment, and the program’s ongoing self-assessment process. Administrative responsibilities may be assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Colorado.
- At least two years of clinical experience.

- Active community service and participation or leadership in local, regional, or national Physician Assistant or other medical organizations.
- An earned academic doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access and success for underrepresented students in higher education.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate course design and delivery, and participate in the evaluation of the didactic and clinical curriculum.
- Participate in the admissions and applicant screening processes.
- Teach assigned courses in the Physician Assistant program.
- Provide student academic advising and evaluation.
- Assist with clinical site visits.
- Participate in ARC-PA accreditation processes and program and university assessment.
- Complete professional development activities and provide service to the University and community.
- Participate in the program’s ongoing self-assessment process.
- Perform administrative responsibilities as assigned.
