Assistant Operations Manager

About The Position

The Assistant Operations Manager has the responsibility of helping the Operations Manager with managing local, long distance, and warehousing operations for The Armstrong Company. This position will provide backup to the Operations Manager with overseeing the day-to-day operations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
Two (2) to Five (5) years’ experience of Transportation/Warehousing experience.
Knowledge of sales, operations, warehousing, and customer service.
Knowledge of operational and quality reporting systems and ability to analyze data.
Proven communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills, including root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

Help ensure safety, quality, & profitability goals are exceeded.
Assist with the planning, dispatch, and training of contractors and crews to maximize revenue and provide excellent service to our customers.
Assist with safety program to ensure compliance with all Federally Regulated DOT standards and exceed all enterprise safety goals.
On-call communications for over-the-road drivers.
Assist with warehousing operations to ensure proper staffing levels and all OSHA standards are met.
Maintain warehousing systems, procedures, and standards to ensure all storage is accounted for and billed with accuracy and timeliness.
Ensure that paperwork procedures are implemented for accurate and timely billing of all work performed.
Assist with shop operations and vehicle maintenance to minimize overall costs and ensure compliance with all DOT standards.
Keep vehicle maintenance files in accordance with DOT standards.
Help with the maintenance of building grounds and warehouses to ensure a clean, safe, and professional operating environment is maintained.
Serve as the liaison for our contractors for all safety, financial, quality, or operational concerns.
All other duties assigned by Manager.
