South Pointe Hospital’s 6 Medical Unit is a fast-paced unit that cares for patients with a variety of medical conditions and diseases, such pneumonia, congestive heart failure, infectious disease, asthma, and COPD exacerbation, and is very experienced in ventilator management for chronic ventilator patients. As Assistant Nurse Manager, you will support the nurse manager by providing clinical supervision and unit coordination. This position offers a great way to gain extensive leadership experience while continuing to provide the best support and treatment possible. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Two years of clinical experience
Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
Good oral, written and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day operations of ambulatory procedural settings caring for hospitalized patients.
Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in procedural settings to ensure quality of care.
Anticipate and resolve patient care issues.
Ensure continuity of patient care by actively participating in and facilitating communication and collaboration among and between department staff and other departments re: operational issues.
Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Provide ongoing clinical evaluation of nurses and other direct and indirect patient care providers on assigned unit/area.
Counsel employees on performance issues, administers initial corrective actions, collaborates in monitoring attendance issues.
Alert Nurse Manager of significant clinical or other performance issues.
Participate in interviewing, selecting and appraising the performance of employees.
Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
Administer Nursing Institute, departmental and CC policies and procedures.
Monitor daily clinical operations of outpatient clinics (patient flow, staffing, supplies, etc.).
Prepare schedule of work assignment assuring adequate coverage on all shifts.
Participate in and supports quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.
Assist in orienting new personnel, continuing education and in-service educational programs.
