About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for its Radiology Care Unit (RCU) and Vascular Access Nursing (VAN) departments. The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in the clinical and administrative activities of the departments to ensure quality patient care, and helps oversee staff across the Newark and Wilmington campuses. This is a full-time position of 80 hours, with 8- or 10-hour shifts on a day/midnight rotation depending on departmental needs. Weekend and holiday work is required as needed by the department.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management required, or currently enrolled with completion within five years of promotion into the position. If the candidate does not have a BSN, a master’s degree in nursing is required.
Three to five years of clinical and leadership experience in the relevant area or specialty required.
Professional certification in a related nursing specialty required.
Current nursing licensure in Delaware or a compact state required.

Responsibilities

Supervise nursing and technical personnel, assess staff competency, oversee daily staffing and scheduling, evaluate performance, and counsel or coach staff as needed.
Participate in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
Serve as a role model by demonstrating clinical expertise and professional behavior.
Direct, mentor, and support staff at all levels.
Develop, implement, and monitor performance-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Identify and develop strategies to improve staff knowledge and professionalism.
Analyze administrative and operational functions and implement appropriate changes and system-wide improvements.
