About The Position

ChristianaCare is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for its Radiology Care Unit (RCU) and Vascular Access Nursing (VAN) departments, located at the Newark and Wilmington campuses. The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager with clinical and administrative activities to help ensure the provision of quality patient care and oversees staff in both departments. This is a full-time position (80 hours) with 8- or 10-hour shifts. The schedule involves a day/midnight rotation based on departmental needs, and weekends and holidays are required as the department needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management, or current enrollment with completion within five years of promotion into the position. If the candidate does not have a BSN, a Master’s degree in Nursing is required.
Three to five years of clinical and leadership experience in the relevant area or specialty.
Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
Current nursing licensure in Delaware or a compact state.

Responsibilities

Supervise nursing and technical personnel, assess staff competency, oversee daily staffing and scheduling, evaluate performance, and counsel or coach staff as needed.
Participate in hiring, promotion, and termination decisions.
Serve as a role model by demonstrating quality expertise and professional behaviors.
Direct, mentor, and support staff at all levels.
Develop, implement, and monitor performance-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Identify and develop strategies to improve staff knowledge and professionalism.
Analyze administrative and operational functions and implement appropriate changes and system-wide improvements.
